Our Pocket Ode to Canada

O Canada, our Mobile Gaming Land.

A tech savvy, early adopting land, with a highly urban population that absolutely loves its mobile devices. Yet, despite all this technological love, we still have an undeniable connection to our nature. This is in no small part due to the fact that an entire few generations of us grew up watching this little gem of a video, sandwiched between shows on the CBC at all hours of the day.

And so, when it came time to craft our next mobile game, these influences seeped into the creative process. Say hello to Thunder Jack’s Log Runner – or as we like to call it, mobile gaming’s quintessential log rolling experience. Named after our illustrious founder Mike Burns’ upbringing in Thunder Bay, Ontario, the game sees players vying to keep our heroes Thunder Jack and Thunder Jane balanced atop a log careening down the river. Along the way, players will collect coins, dodge and battle whimsical fish, and customize and upgrade their experience – all in a beautiful animated adventure.

GameZebo’s Jim Squires has ranked it in a special Canada Post about 6 Great Canadian Mobile Games, saying “For years I’ve been arguing that the National Film Board of Canada needs to tap someone to create a mobile game based on this beloved animated short, and while it still hasn’t happened, we can thank Ottawa’s Fuel Games for bringing the dream as close to reality as we’re ever likely to get.”

We agree, and we hope you do too. Play it, rate it, share it, and do indeed let us know what you think!

Happy rolling.
